PHOENIX (Arizona Republic) June 29, 2005 -
Maricopa County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox and her husband, Earl, will go
to trial on charges of failing to apply for a permit and failing to submit
plans before demolishing a historic home.
The case is set for a bench trial, or non-jury trial, on Sept. 12.
Last summer, the pair tore down a 105-year-old home just south of downtown
Phoenix. They have said they were unaware it was historic and characterized
it as run-down. City historic preservation officials found that the house
was in "extremely intact" condition.
